A wind turbine was implemented at Calais Port 2015 site entrance far enough away from the basin so as not to disturb the ships’ radars.
It is connected to the high-voltage network and will compensate the consumption of both buildings receiving passengers.
The Port Entry Building and the Sea Front Building are classified High Environmental Quality (HQE©). In addition to their comfort qualities for users, these buildings are positive energy buildings. The BEPOS label combines energy sobriety, the use of renewable energy, high-performance equipment and requires a low carbon footprint.
This label requirements were met thanks to this 80kW wind turbine. The two-bladed rotor diameter measures 18 meters, the mast is 30 meters high. The green energy produced will offset the annual consumption of the 5000 m² buildings.
