The “trade workshops”

Trades in the building and civil engineering sector are often little known, at least in their diversity and opportunities to be offered. The training offer in this field, expected by companies, does exist on the territory through “Pôle Emploi” National Employment Agency and the Hauts-de-France Région employment aid measures …

These Trade Workshops were set up to arouse interest of people looking for a job or building a professional project within construction trades. About a dozen of people targeted by their employment counsellor and invited by Pôle Emploi have each quarter a half-day information at the Maison du Projet et de l’Emploi (dealing with construction trades, required skills and adequate capacities, conditions for access to the profession, the potential for employing, training programs …) and a site visit with an on-site meeting with a professional talking about his/her career.

On the initiative of the Operational Employment Unit and organized by the Vocational Training Directorate of the Hauts-de-France Région, Pôle Emploi, the Design and Construction Joint Venture and Société des Ports du Détroit, these Trade Workshops have showed all their interest as demonstrated by the follow-up of participants for a large majority and thanks to the strong involvement of local employment partners, particularly Pôle Emploi counsellors.

“Job seekers who attended this workshop largely expressed their satisfaction. Whatever their situation, the support provided by Pôle Emploi counsellors following this workshop made it possible to provide an appropriate response to suit each participant’s needs.”
