The construction of the buildings has already started with the platforms preparation work for both emblematic buildings of the Port:
- the Port Entry Building
- and the Cross-Channel Client Service Building.
The Cross-Channel Client Service Building is located near the riprap marking the limit of the basin and the platforms. It will be built on the newly created platform, whose hydraulic backfill has been pre-loaded for 6 months and then compacted by vibro flotation and dynamic compaction.
The Port Entry Building is located outside the hydraulic backfills near the former hoverport area, on a layer of Flandrian sand and a substrate made of clay from Flanders.
Both buildings will be based on a supported slab. Works start with deep foundations and special foundations by piles, including drilling and concreting the piles reinforced on their entire height.
