The weather is a significant factor to be considered in the construction of Calais Port 2015 breakwater. Due to sea state conditions, the work has regularly to be stopped for understandable safety reasons but also to protect what has already been done.
At each heavy swell forecast, the breakwater lower levels are covered with 2 up to 4 ton ripraps. In this context of strong constraints, Calais Port 2015 construction breakwater is nevertheless progressing in time : in January, the 1000 metric point was reached and 1,208 Xblocs® of 4 m3 already installed.
