The P10 is the first of the three ferry berths to be built. A concrete structure will be laid on 68 piles to build the wharf to accommodate bus and pedestrian traffic and allow ground-handling services and technical operations at port of call.
Piles are 17 to 39 meters long with a diameter of 1400 mm and weigh up to 27 tons for the longest ones. Their complex implementation requires an accuracy of within one centimeter. The Design and Construction Joint Venture specially produced a guide for pile-driving activities moved by row according to work advancement to ensure the piles are in the correct position. Piles are first vibro-driven into the seabed and then driven on their last 1.5 meter part to ensure their correct dimension.
Once pile-driving activities are over, pile upper ends will then be cut back at the same height and capped with a metal part to have precast concrete walling units of the concrete slab laid on.
